Photoshop CC 2015, Camera Raw #3

Focal Point Lighting.

Adjusting the exposure is a fundamental part of any Photographers arsenal, producing the same effect across the whole of the image. If you wanted to create a "spotlight" or "focal point" lighting effect but didn't have the equipment to do it, or you captured a well lit image & simply wanted to enhance the effect Graduated Filters and the Adjustment Brush make for useful tools to grab hold of the light reigns and really customize your images. In the cover image for this article i used a combination of all three methods.

In the tutorial i wanted to show the effect at extreme levels to emphasize what is possible within Camera Raw, by using graduated filters instead of a gradient layer for example, you are cutting out the more intricate style of image editing for a sleeker simpler image editing tool. I find throughout the Facebook groups that Career Photographers prefer to use Camera Raw whilst dealing with consumer events where only a slight enhancement is required, whereas the more graphic design minded might choose Photoshop. I would say that if you are a Photographer then use Camera Raw, it is simple and designed for your camera. Check out two more Camera Raw Photoshop Tutorials below on the basics & how to create stunning Photo shoot images too.
